I’ve put some serious thought into the PlayStation 3. They keep taking away consoles that work fine and changing them to keep the cost up and never make any real loss. So why is it that these new consoles keep coming out?
Genius. eBay.
Such a lucrative means of people buying whole new consoles to replace their lesser-gig console. Sony isn’t losing all that much money because there’s never a price drop — all they do is take their monopoly of gigabytes and pop another hard drive into the console.
I’m currently an eBay watcher. I lost 2 bids on 40 GB consoles in the last few days ($250, not bad at all!), but I’ll probably keep at it. Then again, I want to see what Sony has in store for the holidays. PlayStation 3 could very well drop in price this holiday season after Samsung’s recent smacking of the Blu-ray player (see previous blog entries). That’s quite a blow!
I want to see what else is in store for the format wars. I feel as if we’re missing out on something spectacular, like hard drive movie storage. I really want that, and I don’t want to invest so much money into a PlayStation 3 when everything good about the console is already heading to Xbox 360. I feel that the currently-losing console should drop in price to keep the industry favorable.
What intrigues me is that the more I type, the more I convince myself that I don’t want a PlayStation 3. I want something to play high-definition movies, see The Dark Knight in full glory, and really enjoy what’s to come… but is that worth playing a different version of Final Fantasy XIII (a.k.a. Versus) when it’s likely that it will be ported over to Xbox 360 as well? Shouldn’t I just wait for a better, more immersive Blu-ray player that tweaks coloring to higher resolutions and maintains a brilliant look to my television?
And what good is HOME if there’s no good games?
The speculation of PlayStation 3 one day becoming the market leader seems so difficult to believe. Sony makes no real effort to really push their console, and I would definitely forget PlayStation 3 altogether if Xbox 360 made an effort with Samsung to make a Blu-ray addition for under $100. This would be the DreamBox 360, merging everything we love about high definition into one box. We’ll see.
When eBay seems to sell the PlayStation 3 better than Sony can, I’m a little hesitant to fork over a paycheck for it.
Save Completed.
Rob you sound like a total 360 fanboy in this post, who hasn’t done any research. You say sony isn’t losing that much money because their hasn’t been any price drop but sony has been selling the console at a loss since day one when it cost them over $1000 to make each one, and saying FF Versus XIII will probably be on 360 is just a total guess, that’s like me saying star ocean and infinite undiscovery will be on ps3 you have no sort of proof of it and theirs no hints to even give you that idea, and saying it has no good games is a total opinion, and a wrong one I might add, the ps3 has the best exclusives and has more better games coming in the foreseeable future. The only 360 titles worth mention at all are Gears 2 and Fable 2 and that’s it until they announce something else (Halo Wars looks stupid, Console RTS = Fail) While PS3 has LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout HD, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Socom Confrontation, Heavy Rain, Dc Universe Online, The Agency, MAG, God of War 3, Team ICO project and these are all ps3 exclusives where as you’ll probably see fable 2 and gears 2 on pc with more content eventually
